Clare Bike Park - Melrose Park Upgrades

29th October 2021

Exciting plans for Melrose Park

There’ll be plenty of activity around Clare’s Melrose Park during November as the construction of new facilities aimed at local youth will begin to take shape.

An expanded playground and an exciting, renewed BMX track will be built at the park, which is also home to the Clare Model Engineers’ Lakeside Railway on the banks of Inchiquin Lake.

A recent community consultation of the draft design for the Clare Bike Park returned an 84% approval rating.

A popular destination for local residents and visitors, the park has plenty of potential for healthy outdoor activities.

The Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council has been able to utilise Federal Government grant funding for the upgrades and changes, which will also include a new public amenities facility, replacing the existing, but outdated, toilets at the park and new irrigation by Inchiquin Lake to make the park more usable during the dry summer months.

Council will invest approximately $300,000 into the park for the total project. Plans for the new Clare Scouts Hall are progressing  which will also enhance the amenity and utilisation of the Park.

The community is asked to be patient during the period of construction work.
