Clare Main Street Development to continue
Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council elected members approved elements of the Stage 2 design for the continued upgrade of the Clare main street at their October meeting.
Work to be completed this financial year includes additional tree grates along the southern end of the main street, more feature bins, additional seating and bike racks as well as a number of artistic elements including large murals and sculptures.
“There will be a longer lead time for the main street artwork in terms of calling for expressions of interest and the creation of the art pieces,” Mayor Wayne Thomas said.
“A Clare Main Street advisory group has been formed which comprises council senior staff, key local artists and designers and a member of the Clare CBD traders who will guide the creative themes for the art work – the final designs will be approved by Council.”
Mayor Thomas said the continued work to develop the Clare Main Street was exciting and would lead to a more vibrant and appealing environment for traders, residents and visitors.
“Together with the community, look forward to the next stage of this upgrade,” he said.
