Council Adopts Plan for the Future
A Strategic Plain to guide Council for the next decade has been approved by Clare & Gilbert Valleys Councillors.
Councillors adopted the plan at their October meeting after extensive community consultation, using various channels including its web-based program Talk to Us which was made available to community members who preferred to lodge their comments electronically.
“Feedback for the plan was positive and it had overwhelming support,” Mayor Wayne Thomas said.
“As a result of feedback received, Council made some minor adjustment to the plans to reflect the community’s comments.”
Mayor Thomas said the plan will provide high level direction for the future investment and delivery of services by Council while also informing Council’s corporate plan which provides a set of initiatives and measures which the current council want to see delivered over the next four years.
Highlights of the plan include the vision statement to grow the council district’s population while maintaining an engaged, vibrant and attractive community, with a shared respect for our natural and built environments and a productive economy that fosters innovation and excellence.
“We have a wonderful district with a connected and empowered community which will help grow our vibrant local economy,” Mayor Thomas said.
“The Strategic Plan has been structured under four themes and a list of projected outcomes which describe what success will look like – and Council is confident that with the support of the community the district will continue to thrive.”
