Communities Benefit from $60,000 in Asset Grants
Twenty-four projects in the Clare & Gilbert Valleys region will benefit from a share of $60,000 in grant funding.
Council announced the successful recipients of its annual Community Asset Grant fund at its October Council meeting.
“Thirty-one applications were received for these popular grants which support community organisations and providing funding for upgrades or new assets throughout the region and seven of the projects were from groups who were first-time applicants,” Mayor Wayne Thomas said.
Successful projects were: Riverton Community Management Committee (Cemetery Markets at the Riverton Cemetery - $3,000); Gonna Group Branch of Clare Lions (Caravan and tools for helping disadvantaged residents - $3,000); Riesling Trail Management Committee (Archway over the trail at Auburn - $3,000); Riverton Recreation Ground (Air conditioning for the clubrooms - $3,000); Clare Regional History Group (Reprint of Clare Historic Walk brochure, Z cards - $3,000); Saddleworth Golf Club (Defibrillator at the Golf Club $3,000); Richardson Park (Madonna Hall painting - $3,000); Shaping Futures, Clare Community Garden (Rainwater tank to support the garden establishment - $2,954); South Clare Sports Club (North & South Clare netball shelter on the northern side of the change rooms at the netball courts - $3,000); Auburn Traders (Solar lighting for information bay - $1,500); Tarlee Hall and Community Services (Cricket nets at oval - $3,000); Watervale Bowling Club (new edging for bowling green - $2,948); Manoora Basketball Club (Replacement basketball backboards at Centenary Park - $1,931); Saddleworth District Community Association (Seating in the new community shelter in the central park - $2,241); Clare Tennis Club (Tennis nets at the Clare courts - $3,000); Riverton RSL (Air conditioning in RSL Museum - $2,000); Saddleworth District Historical Society (New large ceiling fan in the Saddleworth Museum - $790); Clare District Lions Club (Two new BBQs for Lions catering and fundraising - $3,000); Hats Inc (New retractable wall screen for events and presentations - $700); Auburn Community Development Committee (New chairs for the Institute - $3,000); Clare Valley Flying Group (Solar power upgrade to enable sustainable power supply for terminal building and runway lighting - $1,500); Saddleworth Bowling Club (New tables for Bowling Club - $2,915); Gilbert Valley Cricket Club (new practice wicket - $3,000);l St Paul’s Lutheran Church (Disabled toilet installation - $1,521).
