Sand shed ready for use

A successful funding application to the Natural Disaster Resilience Program has seen the construction of a sand storage and bagging shed in Clare ready for use in case of future flooding incidents in the Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council region.

Council was awarded funding through SAFECOM for the vermin proofed shed and sand bagging frames, and the project is now complete thanks to a $32,000 funding from the Commonwealth Attorney Generals’ Department and the South Australian State Governments’ Natural Disaster Resilience Program coupled with a council contribution of $13,699.

The need for a sand shed was identified during severe flooding in the Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council district in recent years.

Council will liaise with the Clare SES who have a sandbagging machine and sand bags ready to move into the shed when the need arises.
