Council meetings are open to the public and Council welcomes members of the public to attend in person or watch the meetings online. Meetings are only closed to the public when considered proper and necessary i.e. the need for confidentiality outweighs the principle of open decision making.
Ordinary Council meetings are held monthly on the third Wednesday of each month commencing at 6.00 pm, except for the December meeting which is held on the second Wednesday and the January meeting which is held on the fourth Wednesday. These meetings take place in the Council Chambers at 4 Gleeson Street, Clare. Council may also convene up to two meetings per year in the community. When this occurs, the meeting location and time will be publicly advertised.
From time-to-time Council may hold Special Meetings of Council for specific reasons. Separate special meeting agendas are issued at the time which may also be accessed through Council’s website.
Live Stream and Recording
Council meetings are livestreamed, recorded and made available to the public via Council’s YouTube channel. Attendees may be captured in the recording through image and/or audio. Remaining in the meeting constitutes consent to the broadcast of any captured image and/or audio.
Confidential Items
There may be times when the public and media are lawfully excluded from a Council meeting under Section 90 of the Local Government Act 1999. In the case that this occurs, the live stream will cease. Council maintains a register of items that have been considered in confidence, that details items retained in confidence and those that have been released. View the Confidential Items Register.
Deputations
A deputation allows a person to appear before a Council meeting in order to address or make a presentation to the Council on an issue. A person wishing to make a deputation must seek permission in writing. Please complete the Deputation Request Form and email to admin@cgvc.sa.gov.au
