European Wasps & Bees

European Wasps & Bees

The European wasp is an introduced species and due to lack of predators and good weather conditions, they are an increasing problem in Australia.  This insect likes to colonise near humans because of the ready supply of food and drink, particularly of the sweet variety.  European wasps may travel up to 500m or further, in search of food.  They also like raw and cooked meats and you must be especially careful not to leave drink cans (beer, soft drinks, mixes) unattended.  Wasps attracted by the contents could enter the can unbeknown.  A person may be stung in the mouth or throat if they take a drink with dire and potentially deadly consequences.  The results could be disastrous.

The removal of European Wasp nests and Bee Hives in the Clare & Gilbert Valleys Councils area should undertaken by a professional pest control person who will then destroy the nest/hive.
