Stobie Pole Art
The Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council celebrates our vibrant community by encouraging creative expression through Stobie pole art. Whether displayed as individual designs or part of themed street projects, these public art installations enhance the unique character of our region.
Before You Start
Stobie Poles are the property and responsibility of SA Power Networks (SAPN). Not all Stobie poles can be painted so it's important to check if yours is okay by completing the online SA Power Network Pole Painting Application Form.
Please refer to these simple SAPN guidelines to ensure you understand your responsibilities:
- You are responsible for sourcing and providing all necessary materials for the project.
- You must ensure all safety measures are in place while painting the pole, including the use of high-visibility clothing, orange cones for traffic control, a vigilant observer, and any other precautions required for working near roadways.
- The artwork must not include offensive content or constitute commercial advertising, such as business names or logos, political material, local messages, directions, or any content likely to cause offense.
- The painted design must not exceed 2.0 meters in height from ground level.
- The artwork must not obstruct or cover any signs, identification numbers, or major equipment installed on the poles by SA Power Networks.
- You are responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the artwork.
We’d love to help promote and celebrate your Stobie pole artwork! Feel free to send us some photos or share the location by emailing us at admin@cgvc.sa.gov.au.
