Council reaffirms stability and transparency
Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council has reaffirmed its focus on stability, continuity and community outcomes following recent changes within the organisation.
Mayor Allan Aughey OAM said Council continues to operate effectively, with no disruption to services or decision-making processes.
“Council’s governance framework is robust, transparent and subject to regular review.
“Our priority remains delivering for our community, and that has not changed,” he said.
Mayor Aughey acknowledged the resignation of Councillor Owen Perry in late March, noting his contribution to Council during his tenure.
In line with the Local Government (Elections) Act and Council policy, and given the proximity to the upcoming general election, the position will not be filled prior to November.
“Council continues to function as normal, with established processes in place, including the Mayor’s casting vote where required, although this is rarely needed,” Mayor Aughey said.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Richard Dodson said the organisation remained well-positioned, supported by a capable and experienced team.
“While there has been some change across senior roles, this reflects broader shifts in today’s workforce.
“Council has the structures, processes and people in place to ensure continuity and maintain service delivery,” he said.
Mr Dodson said the transition in leadership had been smooth, with no impact on operational performance.
“Our focus is firmly on the future. Staff are actively progressing Council’s Draft Annual Business Plan, which will soon be presented to the Elected Body and the community,” he said.
Council emphasises that community wellbeing, service delivery and responsible financial planning remain at the forefront of all decisions.
Services continue to be delivered efficiently and Council remains committed to open communication, balanced with its legal obligations around confidentiality.
