Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council CEO announces resignation
Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council has formally accepted the resignation of its Chief Executive Officer, Mr David Stobbe, following a resolution at a Special Council Meeting held on 23 March 2026.
Mr Stobbe submitted his resignation on 20 March 2026, confirming his intention to conclude his tenure with Council following a three-month notice period, with his final day of employment to be 20 June 2026.
Mayor Allan Aughey OAM said Council received Mr Stobbe’s resignation with regret and acknowledged his contribution during his time as Chief Executive Officer.
“On behalf of Council, I would like to thank David for his service to the Clare & Gilbert Valleys community,” Mayor Aughey said.
“While his tenure has been relatively short, he has worked with commitment and professionalism in leading the organisation.
“David has demonstrated a strong focus on supporting Council operations and working collaboratively with Elected Members and staff.
“We appreciate his willingness to ensure a smooth and orderly transition over the coming months.”
Mayor Aughey said Council would now begin planning for the recruitment of a new Chief Executive Officer.
“Council will undertake a structured recruitment process to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer, ensuring we continue to provide strong leadership and deliver positive outcomes for our community,” he said.
Mr Stobbe commenced in the role in March 2025 and, in his resignation, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the organisation and community.
Council will provide further updates regarding interim arrangements and the recruitment process in due course.
