For all burning outside of the fire danger season please see a general permit notice conditions apply - click here

On behalf of the Clare and Gilbert Valleys Council I thank you for taking the initiative to seek further information in relation to Fire Prevention.

Fire prevention is an important topic throughout the valleys and we would like to provide you with the knowledge to implement safety measures to protect your property and those that surround it.

The Clare and Gilbert Valleys Council has both a moral and legal obligation to encourage all ratepayers and residents to undertake necessary and timely fire prevention measures before and during each Fire Danger Season and preferably without any need for enforcement action by Council.

If you are interested in joining the CFS, local brigades are always looking for new members or helpers to assist the community in times of need.

If you would like any hardcopy information Council can forward you brochures on any of the following:

  • CGVC Fire Prevention Newsletter (includes local restrictions)
  • CFS Bushfire Ready Kit
  • CFS Brochure 'Your Guide' (includes Bushfire Survival Plan)
  • Grain Harvesting Code of Practice & Operations Sticker (adopted by the Clare & Gilbert Valleys Bushfire Prevention Committee)
  • Native Vegetation - Cut Down the Impact of Bushfires and Fact Sheets
  • CFS Recruitment Flyer

A lot of the information on Council's Website was sourced from the South Australian Country Fire Service. The CFS Website contains multitudes of information and advice that may be of further assistance, check it out at www.cfs.sa.gov.au

I hope that you find this section of Council's Website interesting and informative and if you have any questions or require further information please feel free to contact me on 8842 6400 and remember to Prepare.Act.Survive.
